It's said that pure rock doves can be hard to find these days due to
hybridisation with feral pigeons and the Outer Hebrides is probably about as
good as it gets in the UK for seeing genuine rock doves. There are certainly
plenty around here, we've seen many flocks of 100 or more all over the place
including these birds at Scurrival beach.
Scurrival beach is one of the most impressive beaches on Barra and is close to
the campsite Elaine and I usually stay at when we visit Barra.
Bar-tailed godwits.
Sanderling.
A couple of merlins chased each other over the beach.
