Darter nest Centennial park
We came across an Australian darter nest in Centennial park today. These are great birds, sometimes called snake birds and one look at their necks tells you why!
Look at the size of that foot! Totally out of proportion with an otherwise sleek and elegant bird. Obviously designed to maximise propulsion through the water.
There were three downy young in the nest.
