Around Port Douglas
Laughing kookaburra. I've not seen anywhere near as many kookaburras as I expected so this one was too good an opportunity to miss.
Straw-necked ibis.
Brahminy kite.
I was absolutely delighted to see this bird, Terek sandpiper, one my favourite waders.
Australian Gull-billed tern or simply Australian tern Gelochelidon macrotarsa, until recently considered a subspecies gull-billed tern.
Far eastern curlew.
Rufous night heron.
What a guy! A mudskipper.
Fiddler crab
Hundreds of fruit bats fly over our apartment at dusk.
