A great few days camping in Great Langdale in spectacular scenery. The birding
highlight was one which I couldn't possibly photograph because it was lying in
bed in the tent at night listening to hooting and screeching tawny owls which
seemed to be all around us at one point.
On the way we stopped off at Torver Common near Coniston where there were a
few dragonflies on the wing including most pleasingly a very late downy
emerald in the woods not far from Torver Jetty.
