Iceland gull, scaup and Pied flycatcher, Barra

This 2nd calendar year Iceland gull has been hanging around Barra golf course recently and is very photogenic.

As you can see here!

Vatersay has one of the UK's highest wintering concentrations of black-throated diver and today we saw these five.

Up to 220 golden plover are on grassland near the airport.

Juvenile greater scaup on Loch Tangasdail, a Barra first for me.

Bar-tailed godwit.

First winter pied flycatcher.

Eoligarry church. This has been the site of many Barra rarities, including perhaps most famously an American redstart. Within the past couple of weeks it has also been home to two red-eyed vireos. Nothing today though.
