Eoligarry

Eoligarry in the north is my favourite part of Barra and today was our first opportunity to visit the area. I just find the views breathtaking everytime I see them.

Pale-bellied brent geese.

Juvenile Hebridean starlings. The starlings here make all kinds of strange noises when compared to the birds I hear in our back garden at home, some of which are familiar, some of which are not. I guess their repertoire is enhanced by birds such as corncrakes in the summer and a variety of waders, especially curlew and oystercatchers. One of the main differences between the Hebridean race and the more usually race on the mainland is that the juveniles have browner looking heads.
