Weather charts

A wood warbler at Creachan, Brevig was the birding highlight from another challenging day of strong wings and heavy squally showers. Plenty of goldcrests around, a few swallows, lots of pipits and wagtails, plus a redpoll at Castlebay, but not a lot else.

These golden plover were nice near the airport, but sadly no American cousin.

Juvenile Hebridean starling.

We spent a lot of time in Ardmhor plantation which looks ideal for migrants.

Castlebay.

Cleat.

Eoligarry, site of the American redstart a few years ago. Hopefully another is due in the next few days.

The big bird leaves the island.

I've learned from experience not to get too excited by weather charts, but most birders we've met so far on the island and a few on twitter, have commented that the weather looks great for the Western Isles from about Friday onwards. We'll just have to wait and see what it brings, but if nothing else I find these charts visually pleasing. The image above is at 7:30 am on 28/09/2022 and the one below is 30/09/2022.
