Snow Goose and Snow Bunting

This morning the snow goose was on Downholland moss with about 1000 pink-footed geese and later flew to Plex Moss.

The snow bunting flock just north of Southport pier has now increased to six birds.

Russian white-fronted goose with pink-feet on Banks Marsh south of Old Hollow Farm.

There's a large pink-footed goose flock about 1km north of Old Hollow Farm. The light was good and the wind non-existent but I still couldn't pick anything out apart from 10 barnacle geese.

The saltmarsh stretches from Longton near Preston to Southport pier, a distance of over 10 miles, In places it's nearly two miles wide and is full of scattered flocks of pink-feet of varying size. The geese can hide amazingly well in the long grass, so not surprising that rare geese can go missing for a couple of weeks.

This amazing whooper swan flock of 300 birds was feeding on potatoes near Banks village. Apparently there are two Bewick's swans with them but I couldn't find them.
