The lesser scaup was again off the main car park at Pennington Flash and
showed very well. Meanwhile, a great white egret was at the west end and was
the first I have seen at the flash in 6 months. Will this be another bumper
end to the year like last year when and up to seven were present daily from August to
year end, or will it revert to type like 2023 when there were just four
records of single birds all in summer? Time will tell....
Such a distinctive head shape and also it's a smaller bird than tufted.
