Arrival at Port Douglas

Most of today was spent travelling and we eventually arrived in Port Douglas on the tropical north east coast of Australia at about 13.00. I then spent the rest of the afternoon being overwhelmed by the amount of wildlife here. Highlight was a yellow-bellied sunbird which avoided being photographed but since it was just a few feet outside our front door, hopefully I'll get more opportunities. Other birds which avoided being photographed included bush thick-knee, magpie goose and straw-necked ibis, all seen from a moving vehicle. Photos here are Australian figbird, pied imperial-pigeon,  peaceful dove and thousands of fruit bats flying over our apartment at dusk. It all adds up to a really tropical feel to the place and like another country compared to Sydney.
