More from the grebes

I don't know if the chicks always sit on the mothers back or whether they swap over between parents from time to time. Here you can see one of the adults offering a fish to the youngsters, but it looks a bit big to me and it took several attempts to get one of them to accept it. I noticed that before each time the parent offered the fish, it first dipped it in the water as if to help it go down. There maybe more, click to find out >>>
